Public Online, Private Online or On-Demand KPI design programme

Level: advanced.

Operational leaders and performance analysts responsible for actionable measures

Overview

What this programme covers

Start with the decision and outcome, then trace the drivers and definitions needed for an actionable performance view.

More measures do not automatically create better performance conversations. Operational Performance Metrics & KPI Design is for leaders and analysts facing disputed definitions, excessive reporting or KPIs that describe activity without guiding a response. Participants begin with the outcome the organisation needs to understand, map the operational drivers beneath it and distinguish leading signals from lagging results. They then design measures with explicit purpose, formula, source, owner, frequency and decision threshold. Target design is treated as a management judgement that requires evidence and context, not an arbitrary number or promised result. The workplace output is a governed operational scorecard and KPI dictionary connecting frontline activity to customer and financial outcomes. Data-quality checks, metric ownership and a defined performance-review cadence ensure that exceptions are investigated and actions recorded rather than allowing the dashboard to become a passive display.

Evidence standard

Evidence and learning boundaries

Learning is evidenced through the KPI tree, governed scorecard and dictionary participants can explain: each measure’s decision purpose, driver logic, definition, source, owner, threshold, data check and response—not attendance or the number of charts produced.

Learning outcomes

What participants will learn

Participants should be able to design, challenge and govern KPIs without confusing reporting volume with management insight.

Translate a customer, operational or financial outcome into a KPI tree showing the drivers managers can influence.

Distinguish leading indicators, lagging results, control measures and contextual information within a coherent scorecard.

Write KPI definitions covering purpose, formula, source, owner, frequency, threshold and required management response.

Challenge targets and apparent performance using data quality, baseline evidence and the operating context.

Establish metric ownership, data-quality checks and a performance-review cadence for accountable follow-through.

Programme structure

Programme modules

Four stages connect outcome logic, KPI trees, target design and data governance to a practical scorecard review rhythm.

Begin with the performance question

Participants examine a current reporting challenge and define the outcome and decision the measurement system must support. They separate useful context from measures that duplicate activity or lack an owner. This prevents the scorecard from becoming a catalogue of available data before anyone has agreed what management needs to understand.

Build the KPI driver tree

The cohort maps how frontline activity and operating conditions influence customer and financial results. Participants separate early operational signals from end results, then test whether each proposed relationship is plausible and useful. The completed KPI tree identifies where management can intervene while exposing assumptions and external influences.

Define targets, thresholds and responses

Participants write a full definition for each selected measure and examine the evidence behind its target or threshold. They specify source, calculation, frequency, owner and required response when performance moves. Targets are treated as contextual management choices rather than guaranteed standards or unsupported claims of future improvement.

Govern the scorecard conversation

The final module assembles the governed operational scorecard and KPI dictionary. Participants add data-quality checks, review responsibilities and a cadence for discussing exceptions, causes and actions. They define how disputed figures are resolved and how agreed actions remain visible at the next performance review, including the evidence required to close each exception.

Audience

Who this is for

Designed for people who own performance conversations or reporting logic and can influence definitions, data and follow-through.

Operational leaders accountable for performance outcomes and the actions discussed in regular reviews.

Performance analysts responsible for KPI definitions, scorecards, data checks or management reporting.

Process and service owners seeking measures that connect frontline work to customer or financial consequences.

Cross-functional teams prepared to resolve disputed definitions and reduce an overcrowded metric set.

Fit check

Pause before booking when

Teams seeking guaranteed performance gains or benchmark targets without evidence from their own operating context.

Participants wanting software-only dashboard training without responsibility for KPI logic, ownership or review decisions.

Organisations expecting the facilitator to certify data quality or own their production scorecard after training.

Delivery and pricing

Choose the route that fits the cohort

Choose a supported format that allows realistic metric design while respecting access, confidentiality and the cohort’s analytical starting point.

Delivery

Public Online

Join a scheduled online workshop that develops KPI trees, definitions, thresholds and review rules through bounded operating examples. Dates, joining instructions and stated materials are checked against the current cohort offer.

Delivery

Private Online

A closed virtual group can challenge its own measurement logic using suitably limited scenarios. The sponsor agrees participant roles, analytical depth and information-handling rules before the workshop.

Delivery

On-Demand

Self-directed study may be offered for the KPI method. Buyers should verify the access window, workbook contents, technical needs and whether any facilitator review accompanies that version.

Delivery

Scorecard and dictionary output

The learning output is a scorecard design and KPI dictionary. Cleaning production data, configuring reporting software or embedding the review cycle requires a distinct implementation decision.

£295 to £495

Public Online

A public KPI workshop is priced only when a dated cohort identifies its tuition, materials and joining conditions.

£2,400 to £3,200

Private Tutor-Led

Private virtual pricing reflects the reporting challenge, participant responsibilities, permitted evidence and depth of scorecard practice agreed with the sponsor.

£99 to £179

On-Demand

Any self-directed price must correspond to a stated access window, named resources and clearly identified review provision.

Founder-led delivery

Tobi Akiode

Founder-led KPI facilitation combining operational measurement, financial interpretation and evidence-aware scorecard governance.

Tobi Akiode leads the KPI design workshop by moving between operational questions, financial consequences and the evidence behind each measure. Participants are asked to defend why a metric matters, how it is calculated and what response it should trigger. Dashboard appearance remains secondary to decision usefulness and accountable review.

Before the session, the sponsor confirms the reporting challenge, available evidence and who owns the resulting scorecard decisions. Facilitation stays focused on learning and design; source-system validation, benchmark assurance and production dashboard implementation remain with the organisation or separately appointed specialists.

Questions

What buyers usually ask before booking

Clarify the KPI method, required data, scorecard output, ownership boundaries, supported formats and limits of target setting.

How is a KPI different from any performance measure?

A useful KPI is tied to a material outcome, an accountable owner and a management response. Other measures may provide context or diagnose a cause without deserving key status. Participants use a KPI tree to decide which measures belong on the scorecard and which should remain supporting information.

Will the programme tell us what our targets should be?

It provides a disciplined approach to target and threshold design, but it does not invent universal targets or guarantee a performance level. Participants examine baseline evidence, operating constraints, risk and the decision purpose, then record the rationale and review rule for each selected threshold. Open judgements remain beside the relevant threshold until fresh evidence supports a revision.

What practical output will participants create?

Participants develop a governed operational scorecard and KPI dictionary. The output records driver logic, purpose, formula, source, owner, frequency, target or threshold, data-quality checks and expected response. It is a learning artefact owned by the cohort rather than a finished production dashboard supplied as consultancy.

Which delivery formats currently apply to this programme?

Supported formats are Public Online, Private Online and On-Demand. Actual availability, access arrangements, cohort details, materials and any review support are confirmed in writing before commitment. An in-person format is not currently offered for this programme, so buyers should select from the available published options.

Does the programme certify our KPI data or performance?

No. Participants learn to define data-quality checks, ownership and resolution steps, but the programme does not audit or certify source systems, calculations or reported performance. Production validation and assurance remain organisational responsibilities and may require separate technical or assurance work outside the training scope. System testing or production rollout needs its own technical owner and approval route.
